Parts of Speech by Bkumar Words are divided into different kinds or classes according to their use , that is according to the work they do in a sentences called parts of speech.the parts of speech are eight in number:

1.Noun - A noun is a word used as the name of a person, place or thing.
Ex. Person- Ram, Hari,Sita
Place- Delhi,Patna
Thing- 1. Pen,Sugar, 2.Love,Beauty etc.
Note-The word thing includes 1. all objects that we see,hear,taste,touch or smell (material noun)
2. something that we can think of ,but can not perceive by senses (abstract noun)
2.Adjective- An adjective is a word used to add something to the meaning of a noun.
Ex. good boy , little girl etc.
3.Pronoun-A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun.
Ex. Ram is my friend.He lives in Mumbai.
4.Verb- A verb is word used to express an action or state.
Ex.play, eat,is,are etc.
5.Adverb- An adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a verb,an adjective or another adverb.Ex. quickly, very beautiful,quit correctly etc.
6.Preposition - A preposition is a word placed before a noun or a pronoun to show its relation to some other word or words in the sentence.
Ex.at,in,of,over etc.
7.Conjunction- A conjunction is a word used to join words or sentences.
Ex.and,but,if,although etc.
8.Interjection - An interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feeling.
Ex. Alas,hurrah,oh etc
